There is a new face at the NEW LOOK . Tracy Jones is a new beautician who works Thursday and Friday ( 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.), Saturday ( 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.). Tracy takes walk-ins only, so need a new do? Don’t have an appointment? Stop by the New Look at 231 E. Main St., Gas City.
PAMPERED PETS has moved from Jonesboro to 116 E. Main St. in Gas City. Cindy Goble, Owner, now has over 80 clients. Having a bad day? Stop in and see the cuties that Cindy is grooming; it will turn your day around. Scrappy, a tiny Yorkshire Terrier that is part of the owner’s family, warmed my heart the day I visited.

LOJEK, LLD recently joined the Chamber. Joseph Byrd & Kirk Casterline operate this full service civil engineering and surveying company and you can reach them either by phone (765) 674-5305 or via e-mail, jbyrd@lojekllc.com. Joseph is originally from Gas City and states, "our firm was established in Gas City due to my desire to help and serve my hometown community. This is my dream career". On the personal side, Joe says his favorite community event is the 4th of July Fireworks. His idea of relaxation is a day at the beach and the people he most admires are his Grandfather and Mother. The one thing Joe has not yet accomplished but would like to is to take the PE exam and pass it. You've probably seen Joe at the Director's Luncheon but the next time you see him, wish him luck on this venture into entrepreneurship.
JoAnn Maynard and Kay Jones own GRIME BUSTERS, a new Chamber member. Grime Busters is a commercial and residential cleaning service that does full service cleaning. JoAnn and Kay's slogan is "It's Us or Dust". These ladies provide free estimates and will clean weekly, biweekly, or one-time only. They are insured and bonded, provide all cleaning supplies and all major credit cards are accepted. You are provided with a written list of services to be provided and a predetermined price. Forget the paper work! Grime Busters handles their own taxes, social security and other expenses. JoAnn and Kay were 30 year Thomson employees that are now providing a service to their customers and generating their own income. Both enjoy many hobbies and their families. Business Highlights
Community Children’s Academy is located at 100 N. 10 th Street in Gas City . They are open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Academy programs are licensed, regulated, and curriculums are age/development appropriate. They are a unique childcare learning center designed to focus on the safety and specific needs of each child. The Academy provides a Christian atmosphere, promoting respect for God, others, and learning, which in turn promotes social and behavioral development. Community Children’s Academy accepts infants from 6 weeks old, toddlers (12-24 months) and preschoolers (3-5 years).
The school age programs include before and/or after school care, transportation to and from selected schools and summer activities for 5-12 year old children. The children are provided with a hot and nutritious lunch. Snacks consist of milk or juice and at least one of the following: fruit, raw veggies, bread, sandwiches or cereal products. Director's Luncheon
Sixty-five people attended the January luncheon. Nate Spencer of Leapfrog Technologies / Spencer Enterprises provided information on the support his company lends to alleviate computer headaches. Nate said Chamber members are offered a 15% discount on Leapfrog's services with a $100 minimal purchase (expires March 16, 2006). Interested? Mayor H. Larry Leach welcomed the new businesses that were in attendance and talked briefly about the Wal-Mart project. He announced additional Christmas lights will be added to the Gas City Park. Grime Busters were presented their membership plaque and told the group "It's Us or Dust". Janice Prosser, Cracker Barrel Country Lady, provided two complimentary door prizes.
Fifty-seven enjoyed the tasty meal in February. Barry Hammel, of VECTREN, was the primary speaker and gave an informative presentation on what affects the price of gas and how to minimize the increase. He said VECTREN was extremely rigorous in being efficient to keep your labor cost down. VECTREN pays what the consumer does for gas and compared the average cost of gas usage in 1996 ($362.00) to today's costs of $927.00. VECTREN donates annually to the "Share The Warmth" program and matches funds donated to "Local Community Action".
DECA students participate in the Director's Luncheon as their schedule permits. Businesses may sponsor the cost of one or more students, one or more months.
