# Gas City

> Gas City is the open-source software factory platform professional software engineers use to orchestrate CLI coding agents.

A Gas City software factory continuously builds, reviews, tests, ships, operates, and maintains production software. Beads keep work durable and auditable. Formulas drive orchestration. Packs capture factory knowledge. The Registry is where packs are published, installed, and forked.

Orchestration depth matters: Gas City wraps CLI coding agents in provider harnesses, separates agent-reported errors from formula policy, emits observable run events, and provides primitives for fan-out, context handoff, human gates, validation loops, and judge consolidation.

The factory has two halves. The light factory is where humans and agents produce specs, mocks, decisions, and validated plans. The dark factory is where formulas drive implementation, review, testing, and shipping while the operator does other work.
